The ensemble Les fin'amoureuses was created in 2000; Emmanuelle Drouet, Nathalie Waller and Nannette van Zanten had the same musical training and several repertoires in common. Attracted to modal music, they have been exploring medieval music, particularly that of the Mediterranean countries, and traditional music of the Near- and Middle East. They perform Sephardic songs in Ladino, collected in the Ottoman Empire, songs that with time were coloured by the language and music of the countries adopted by those Jews expelled from Spain. The programme also includes psalms from the Huguenot psalter, a Maronite hymn, the Turkish folksong Usküdar, traditional and more recent French songs. Variety is the key word in this delightful programme, in which Les fin'amoureuses skilfully bring together different cultures, styles and languages.

"Lullabyes and Goodbyes is a project close to our hearts and one we have been discussing amongst ourselves for some time; we are therefore very pleased that it should come to realisation as our first CD for Signum Records.
