Jean-Baptiste Quentin - generally known as Quentin le Jeune to distinguish him from his elder brother Bertin Quentin - is a figure about whom very little is known. He ranks alongside Leclair and Mondonville in the Parnasse français, at the centre of the famous violin school who prospered during the first half of the 18th century. The members of the Ensemble Quentin le Jeune were drawn together in 1999 by the rich repertoire of baroque trio music, mainly suites and sonatas. Their research on French composers of the first half of the 18th century led to the discovery of Jean-Baptiste Quentin le Jeune, whose music enchanted them so much that they named their ensemble after him. This CD is the first in a series called Musique à Versailles. The series will focus on music from the century of Louis XIV, the Sun King
