Dom Clement Jacob, born Maxime Jacob in 1906, was admired by the likes of Milhaud, Cocteau, Ravel and many others. His style is roughly analogous to that of Gonoud, and these sonatas in particular show the influence of the late French Romantic style. This well packaged and beautifully recorded CD is an excellent introduction to his piano works
