Carl Dolmetsch, in his long life (he died in 1997) was one of the leading exponents of the recorder, a virtuoso on his chosen instrument to compare with Segovia, Lionel Tertis, Eugene Goosens and Dennis Brain in their hitherto less-than-fashionable fields. His joy in music-making and the warmth and informality of his concerts and recitals endeared him to his audiences.Through his wife and equally famous four children his influence has been immense.This CD comprises rare recordings from 1950 and 1953 and shows the breadth and interest of Carl Dolmetch's career.
